ARTE is a European public access cable network which promotes independent cultural programming aimed at European citizens. In order to be able to view European television, you have to subscribe to an ARTE channel. To subscribe to any of the ARTE stations in your area, you can use a European Sim card from any of the major providers like Vodafone, Three Mobile, Orange, O2 or T-mobile. The installation process is very simple, since you can simply install the software on your PC. Once installed, you will be able to access the ARTE website which contains all the necessary information regarding subscription and features.
ARTE is not only available in Spain but in Italy as well and also in the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. In some countries, there are free-to-air (FTA) channels also available for a while but they were not made available in all areas. If you want to watch Italian programs or Spanish programs in your home country, you might need to use a translator for this. Some of the satellite TV channels which are available in Italy and other European countries are not translated by themselves, they are translated by the local producers.
You can watch a variety of shows or movies, both on demand and on pay per view basis. You will get to see classical Spanish movies or Hollywood blockbusters like Sex and the City or Moulin Rouge with subtitles. You can also see concerts of popular Spanish artists such as Paco Pena or Jose Marzan. If you are interested in finding out more about Spanish artists or the Spanish music scene, you can visit the ARTE website which has listings of upcoming performances and events in Spain.
